My husband and I spent 10 glorious days at Torre Fiore, this June. We flew BA to Brindisi and stopped both ways in Taranto (great seafood and an amazing archeological museum). We travel with a wheelchair and were put up in a beautifully designed accessible suite in the courtyard that surrounds the main building – the torre - of the hotel. We fully intended to spend much more time exploring the local towns and going to the beach, but this hotel is so relaxing and the staff are so kind and hospitable, and we were so tired of hectic London life, that we spent most of our time just relaxing around the pool and swimming. It is extremely hot in Basilicata in June, but luckily the hotel grounds has lots of delightful shady spots. We basically adopted a southern Italian lifestyle; sleeping in the afternoon, eating late (nothing really opens til 8pm so beware...), and spending hours watching the drgonflies and swallows skimming the pool. The staff are so kind and the hotel restaurant is fabulous. It sources most of its ingredients locally and the waiting staff are super-knowlegable about regional specialities and especially it's (excellent) wine. It is 'poor' food, made by people who have historically made the best of what they can etract from the dramatic landscape, and this very much suited our taste. On the few occasions we could be bothered to venture out we went to Matera (not to be missed by very touristy; try to go early), Pisticci (wonderful local town 5 mins away with Bar Pisticci perfect for aperitivi) and, for us the surprise, Bernalda, a pretty local town on the way to the coast with two amazing restaurants, without pretension and full of Italian families. I especially appreciated the fact that, since I am slow in the morning, the hotel staff bought me breakfast to our suite with charminng care and gentility. All the staff and the owner were there making our welcome and stay seem effortless. When it was time to leave we were really sad and can't wait to go back. Andrea & Justin xx

We have stayed at Hotel Torre Fiore about 12 or 13 times since it first opened and in all that time it never fails to meet our expectations. Staff are always so very polite and helpful and have always had that "can do" attitude and this year was no exception. I can thoroughly recommend Torre Fiore Hotel. A few general bits about the area: You have to have a car in this area. Restaurants are scarce enough and all involve driving so eating in the hotel is the norm. This may be one aspect of the hotel that could be improved, breakfast is limited but the food is good and the restaurant whilst inn itself is lovely, the menu this year was a bit limited especially if you are staying for a number of nights and it whilst I cant complain about anything specific I didn't think is was a good as other years but don't be put off by that.

Torre Fiore Masseria is a wonderful oasis in southern Italy. The rooms are simply fantastic and the bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the swimmingpool, the restaurant and most of all the people. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful hotel in great location with countryside views. Our suite was huge, well decorated and cool. Superb food. Pool a bit small but there were not many people there. Staff so helpful and friendly.

What an amazing place to stay. The property is beautiful, the staff were incredibly helpful and the service was amazing The restaurant was delicious and we had the chance to do a really fun pasta class with the owner and chef. 100/10 I couldn't provide a better recommendation - truly an amazing experience.

Torre Fiore is simply the perfect setting for a beautiful and relaxing visit to Basilicata. Giovanna, Jessica, and the entire staff are so kind and attentive to every detail. Dinners were delicious. Highly recommended.

Ogni piccolo dettaglio è curato e pensato con amore. Un posto dove sentirsi bene. Gentilezza disponibilità e simpatia da tutto il personale: accoglienza, pulizia, cucina. Dato che la struttura non era molto occupata essendo a inizio stagione, ci hanno offerto un upgrade gratuito. Io non ero stata molto bene e si sono adoperati in ogni modo per il mio benessere preparandomi tisane e chiedendo se avessi bisogno di qualcosa in particolare. Torneremo sicuramente anche con i nostri ragazzi!

Exceptional in every way. The staff were incredible. Always available to lend a hand or provide suggestions. They worked with us in advance of our trip to line up two of our favorite experiences out of a jam packed 10 day trip. The winery they suggested - Battifarano - was both intimate and delicious. A day trip in Matera would not be the same without the incredible guide Renato. Thank you for recommending both of these amazing experiences. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. The grounds are inviting and scenic with stunning architecture and design. It is impossible to not enjoy yourself day or night here whether you soak up the sun by the pool or marvel at the moon in the familiar feels of a Muskoka chair. It is a very quiet resort. Which was primarily positive however it would have been nice to have had somewhere to go that encouraged evening socialization & entertainment. We would be delighted to come back and spend more time here. The staff make you feel like family - big time thank you to Jessica, Stephania, Giovanna, and the rest of the professional super friendly staff for making our stay the best it could possibly be.

My family stayed here in August for several nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. All staff members we encountered were incredibly hospitable, kind, and genuinely wanted to help. The location is a bit remote, but that's part of the charm - feeling secluded and enjoying a true getaway. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant for several nights, and each meal was amazing. We also arranged a pasta cooking class which was great fun, learning to make 3 different types of pastas and ultimately having them cooked and served to us afterwards. Upon returning home, we recreated some of these to relive our stay! We had booked the Torre Suite, which was a huge 2-bedroom suite with all we needed in-room. One recommendation to the staff would be to incorporate a full-sized refrigerator, possibly even a stove/oven as there is definitely space in the kitchen. As it is, we had a mini-fridge, where we stored drinks and snacks, but wished we had more room. The bathrooms were luxurious and comfortable, and we slept quite well in the beds. Overall, the room itself was incredibly comfortable and one we could not recommend enough. You absolutely must have a car to get around the area/region. Some places we visited: -Lido Natura at Marina di Pisticci: Make sure you speak with the hotel staff to make a beach club reservation for you. The beach is wonderful and the water is super calm for lounging! -Olio Quinto Olive Oil Factory: Again, have the hotel staff arrange a visit for you - the olive oil from this place was unlike anything we've ever had before! We bought several bottles to bring home. This is also the olive oil brand the hotel serves at its restaurant. -Craco: While we didn't tour the ghost town of Craco itself, we drove to the entrance and walked around the area a bit to take in the vibe of the area. It was quite an experience! -Grottole: we drove out to partake in a pottery class as part of "Wonder Grottole" and I highly recommend it! The town itself is a site to see, being perched upon a mountain! The Hotel pool is nice and relaxing, and is very much meant for relaxation. We were traveling with our child, who enjoyed the pool but in wanting to get active we could only stay for so long before changing things up and looking elsewhere. Overall, I would 100% recommend a trip to this region of Italy. We had come from a big city, so this was truly a memorable escape that we will be speaking about for years to come. I would absolutely recommend staying at the Hotel Torre Fiore to all looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway!
