I have have just returned from a week at the Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach in Baja Sardinia and simply could not fault it. As noted in other reviews the location is picture perfect with the hotel benefiting from its own private stretch of beach and within 5-10 minutes walking distance of the small resort centre, although its worth noting that some of the inclines might be challenging for those with walking difficulties. Again as noted the half board option was really good value with all the usual choices at breakfast and the evening meal which consists of four courses was always enjoyable, wines ranged in costs upwards of 25 euros per bottle so not cheap but similar to those elsewhere. I can see that many people have commented on the rooms being dated which is true, but in my opinion this only added to the rustic charm of the hotel and the option of a sea view room is highly recommended. What did surprise me was just how busy the hotel was for mid September as I had expected the hotel to be quietening down for the end of the season, but no the opposite was the case as it was really busy, with a wide variety of guests from many different nationalities. I was slightly concerned over some review noting that the sun beds were difficult to find in the morning due to other guests reserving them first thing and whilst this did occur we never found any problems finding one and enjoyed all the nooks and crannies which were tucked away around the hotel grounds. Again as noted the staff were marvellous and attentive so again no concerns. Worth highlighting that the nearest supermarket is a 15 minute uphill walk at a steady pace. In summary, we really enjoyed our time and would recommend this hotel for a family or couple looking for a beach holiday.

Questa estate è la nona volta che trascorriamo le nostre vacanze, nel bellissimo mare di Sardegna, in questo Hotel. I motivi sono molteplici, a iniziare dalla eccezionale posizione direttamente sul mare, in una piccola caletta con spiaggia attrezzata riservata ai soli ospiti, ad un passo (5 minuti a piedi) dal centro di Baja Sardinia. L’hotel è dotato di diverse piscine, di due ristoranti e di un bar su terrazza spettacolare dopo in tramonto. Assai comodo e funzionale l’arredamento delle camere, tutte con balconcino arredato o con piccolo giardino. Ci si sente come a casa propria, coccolati da tutto il personale, dalla direzione, alla sala, al bar, ai servizi di camera e di spiaggia, in modo veramente inusuale e straordinario. Ottimo il sevizio di ristorazione sia per qualità che per varietà. Noi ci torneremo ancora. Senz’altro da consigliare.

Con infinita tristezza lascio questo posto meraviglioso dove ho trascorso il Primo week end di settembre e dove sicuramente mi riprometto di tornare perché la bellezza l’ordine la Pulizia e la Gentilezza non si trovano proprio facilmente oggi giorno. Parliamo di un hotel a gradoni sul mare con spiaggetta di sabbia privata dotata di ombrelloni e sdraie reclinabili talmente comode che sembrano lettini. Tra i sali scendi dell’hotel ho contato almeno 4 piscine ma potrebbe essercene anche una quinta che mi è sfuggita. A bordo di ogni piscina invece si possono trovare numerosi lettini. Hotel caratterizzato da Pace calma silenzio e tranquillità. Con una camminata di 200mt si arriva al centro di baia Sardinia che è assolutamente da vedere. Stupendo! Invece a circa 800mt c’è il famosissimo locale PHI BEACH. La Stanza la consegnano alle ore 14:00 (se riescono come nel mio caso anche prima). Alla partenza devi lasciarla entro le ore 10:00 ma nessun problema perché sia all’arrivo che in partenza ti offrono delle stanze di cortesia (gratuitamente) con doccia dove ti puoi sistemare. Servizio di reception eccellente e cordiale. Servizio ristorante alla carta gentilissimo e professionale. Grazie Maria Antonietta! Esplorando l’hotel, alle spalle degli scogli che fanno da cornice alla spiaggetta privata, potete trovare un altra spiaggetta minuscola sempre facente parte dell’hotel ed è una cosa meravigliosa. Andate a cercarla! A chi scrive recensioni negative su questo hotel dico che non lo capirò mai! La moquette? Si se vogliamo e un arredamento un po’ datato ma vi assicuro che in questo hotel oltre ad essere pulitissima si intona alla perfezione con tutto l’arredamento. In Costa Smeralda vedi solo cose belle e l’hotel Smeraldo si sposa alla perfezione con il contesto. Ps. Non mi sento di consigliare questa location a persone anziane con difficoltà motorie perchè come detto prima parliamo di un hotel a gradoni sul mare e credo quindi sia un po’ difficoltoso x chi ha “acciacchi” fisici e deambulatori di ogni genere. This hotel is in a great location with many beaches only a car ride away if you are looking to explore the surrounding areas. The hotel is clean and the staff very nice. If i ever return to Sardinia i will absolutely be coming back to this beautiful seaside resort!

Not knowing much about Sardinia, I wasn’t sure if I was making the best choice but we were thrilled with this hotel, the location and the staff. Not knowing much about Sardinia, I wasn’t sure if I was making the best choice but we were thrilled with this hotel, the location and the staff. We booked a stunning frontal sea view room which was magnificent and worth every penny! The private beach and the extensive pools were amazing, the breakfast was wonderful and the staff was so helpful but especially Marco and Elena at the front desk and Maria Antoinnetta who was the waitress every night at the bar where we could enjoy the sunset every night. They also had a piano player which was a bonus! I highly recommend this location on the beautiful emerald coast of Sardinia!

Abbiamo soggiornato in coppia per una settimana in questo hotel con trattamento mezza pensione. La struttura è bellissima perché affacciata direttamente sul mare, dispone di 2 calette con un mare incantevole nonché di varie piscine, una con idromassaggio, incastonate nella natura e dotate di lettini e sdraio. Un ambiente veramente unico. Anche la camera molto bella, abbastanza spaziosa e dotata di ogni comfort, letto con baldacchino, cabina armadio e bagno con doccia. Il servizio ristorazione ottimo, tanto a colazione con una ricca varietà di cibi sia salati che dolci che a cena ove ogni giorno era previsto un menù diverso con più scelte per ogni portata. Cibo leggero, ben cucinato e piatti originali. Bellissimo bar su terrazza con affaccio sul mare. Personale qualificato e molto gentile, ampio parcheggio interno. Consiglio assolutamente questa struttura dove spero di tornare.

Wow! Just returned home after a week at this hotel (room 230) and loved everything about it despite some negative reviews I'd previously seen. We had upgraded to a sea view room with balcony and it was well worth the extra. The view of the sunset every night from our balcony was absolutely stunning! The hotel was charming, traditional and spotlessly clean. Our room was ample in size (double room) and the little walk in wardrobe it had was fantastic for storage (plenty of hangers too) . The fridge in the room was ideal and the bathroom was big enough and had plenty of room for toiletries etc. The water temperature of the shower reduced early evening but that wasn't an issue for us. We were given two beach towels on arrival for free and you need to pay 2 euros to exchange them for fresh ones (we made do for the week). On arrival we had a complimentary bottle of sparkling white wine which was a really pleasant surprise. The room was cleaned daily and the cleaners were efficient and really friendly. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was really great - all you could want for including boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and rosti for those that like something hot. The breakfast service was highly efficient with attentive waiters/waitresses on hand to help with anything you needed and keep you topped up with coffee. The hotel facilities were fantastic (great cocktails and lunch options) and the series of pools nicely laid out. There was a main private beach and another smaller one. Getting hold of a sun lounger did make for an early start but as you went further away from the main pool they became more available. We managed to get loungers every day without any problems. Snorkeling off the private beach (smaller one) was easy and there were lots of fish to be seen. The facilities at the hotel were good including the reception and bar areas which have a great view over the sea (and of the sunset). We found the staff all very helpful, especially the reception staff. It's about a 7 min walk into the town where there are a selection of restaurants. The restaurant opposite the hotel (called Foodie) looked basic but the food was absolutely delicious and the prices were very reasonable (my favourite pizza of the trip was from here!). Overall we couldn't fault the hotel and would recommend it to others. Oh and I should mention there was the usual tourist tax to pay at the end of our stay (3 euros per person per night).

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! We spent a week there from 31st July and could not fault the place at all. Checking In: the hotel is about a 45 minute drive from the airport. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who che led us in and another young man who took our case to our room. Check in was quick and easy and everything was explained to us well. We were half board and arrived at 21:40 so had missed the evening meal. However, 20 minutes after getting into our room a trolley full of fresh fruit, Parma ham, bread, boiled eggs, mozzarella and tomatoes was delivered! Very impressive. The hotel and room: Whilst lots of reviews say the hotel is ‘dated’ I can’t help but think k that it adds to the charm. The decor is typically Sardinian, very rustic and beautifully decorated. The whole place is spotlessly clean. Our room was cleaned daily. We looked out over the car park/mountain side which we were grateful for on 2 nights as Phi Beach partied until the early hours! Our air conditioning was brilliant and our bed very comfortable. No complaints from us. Pools and beach: Every pool area is very clean and well looked after. Yes, some people get up early to reserve their favourite sunbathing spot, but there’s really no need as there’s plenty of beds around all of the pools, set into the cliff etc.. in small little areas - amazing spaces to relax. There’s also MANY deck chairs and umbrellas on the beach. The beach itself is a little rough with shingles but that didn’t bother us. Food and drinks: We chose half board and I’m so glad we did. Breakfast was served from 7:30 to 10am, buffet style, lots of choice, 2 coffee machines with a wide choice of drinks - a really good start to the day. The pool bar serves lunch which can be paid for, or you can swap your evening meal to lunch if you’d prefer. We didn’t eat here so can’t comment, but we had some lovely drinks served here. You can also have drinks on the main terrace, which is absolutely beautiful in the evening to watch the sun set. The evening meals are served 7:30 to 9:30pm. Wow! What can I say … STUNNING! There’s a different menu every night for you to choose from, which is such a change from the usual buffet style you get in most hotels. There’s usually 3 or 4 different choices for each of the 4 courses - I’d highly recommend going half board, we ate some of the most delicious Sardinian dishes. Location: If you are happy to stay in the hotel and resort then this is the perfect hotel. There is a pizza house across the road from the hotel and a large supermarket about a 10 minute walk. If you walk up the hill to the right from the hotel then take the immediate left back down another hill you’ll end up in the main piazza where you’ll also find a sandy beach. If you want to see more of Sardinia then I suggest you hire a car as public transport is practically non- existent in this area and taxis are very expensive. The staff at the hotel can’t do enough for you, they really are outstanding and work so hard.

We are half way through our ten day stay at grand hotel smeralda beach. The hotel has the best views and the private beach is amazing.. The hotel has several pools so you can always find one that either no one or hardly anyone is in. They put the sun chairs out on the beach in the morning but there are also some spare ones so if you get down to the beach later and there’s none left you can put out your own sun chairs and parasols which is a lovely touch. They also scatter sun loungers around the hotel, up on the hill overlooking the sea from the other side of the rocks so there is nice numbers of loungers available. Breakfast is until 10am… we have teenagers so 10:30-11 would have been more suited to us but alas. You can take about a five minute walk until you are at a bigger beach that also has a few restaurants, shops, hire car place etc.. The staff at the hotel are all lovely and cannot be more helpful. You can get a bus from the bigger beach (5 min walk from hotel) to many other places and the buses go three times a day - you need money for the bus. The cocktails are great 😃 and we are half board and the food is also good. We are having a lovely time and will be sad to leave behind the loveliness of this hotel. Thank you to all the lovely staff at the hotel for being so friendly, professional and courteous. We are very well traveled and apart from Galapagos think Sardinia is the most beautiful place we’ve been - it’s absolutely stunning! Being in the Costa smeralda is seeing another beautiful crystal clear water beach at every turn.

Hotellet ligger nydelig til ved havet, flott strand og klipper. Bassengområdene var fine. Betjeningen var kjempehyggelige. Anbefales! Forslag til forbedring: Veldig mange gjester la ut badehåndklene sine på solsengene tidlig om morgenen. Dette er en ueffektiv og uvennlig praksis som hotellet burde prøve å forebygge.

Se pensate all'Italia paese in decadenza dove "rispetto" alla Grecia, gli hotel costano il triplo, ed offrono la metà dei servizi.... ecco se pensate all'Italia moltiplicate l'inqulata X 2 con la sardegna, (dove tutto costo il doppio) oppure uguale ma con metà dei servizi, se poi associate la costa smeralda... siete fritti. Proprio per questo do un voto positivo, è si pare assurdo, guardate tutti i miei giudizi passati: sono molto severo, ma tanto è. Dovete capire che per avere il servizio che vi offre un 5 stelle lusso in Grecia: con piscina privata per ogni singola camera (piscina privata di almeno 20 metri quadrati ) ecc.. in Grecia spenderete 350 euro netto, in italia almeno 1500 in sardegna almeno 8000 euro a notte. ecco che questo 4 stelle, vecchio e con scarsa manutenzione per 350 euro a notte, è una buona soluzione in Sardegna. giardino ben tenuto, tante piccole piscine, ombrelloni e sdrai compresi, piccola spiaggia privata, prezzi delle consumazioni oneste, 2.5 euro un cadde... letti nella media come comodità, camera seleziona... aria condizionata non funziona a dovere ma va be... insomma in Grecia lo pagherà 35 euro a notte quo 350 e siamo felici

Great hotel. Stunning sea views. Staff are exceptional - all very friendly and helpful. Good standard Italian breakfast - plenty of choice - fruit, hams, cheeses, eggs, cakes, croissants, yogurts, etc. Terrace offers beautiful views. Plenty of loungers around the numerous pools and in the gardens of the hotel. Get up early for your choice of lounger - all part of the fun and you may as well be up and enjoying the views than in bed. Also loads of deckchairs on the beach. Short walk into the resort and to the main beach which has a few restaurants and bars. The hotel is a little dated, the rooms are quite quirky, but it’s spotlessly clean throughout.
