In December 2003, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti was transformed into a joint-stock company, to adapt it to the big changes in the regulatory and institutional framework of its reference markets, strengthening the capacity for action and making operating management more flexible and functional. Its new legal status does not alter the public and general interest purposes the Institute has always pursued. CDP's mission is to promote the growth of public investments, infrastructure works intended for the supply of public services of a local nature and large-scale works of national interest, ensuring an adequate financial return for shareholders and, at the same time, preserving the economic-financial-asset equilibrium in a lasting way.
