In Montepulciano you can admire the Contucci Palace built in the 16th century by A.da Sangallo and frescoed by Andrea Pozzo, where Jules 3rd and the Grand Duke Ferdinand 1st lived. It still is the house of the Contucci family, that handed over the art of wine-making from generation to generation, making it famous world-wide. The wine-making company is the oldest one in Montepulciano and it extends over 170 hectares, of which 21 are cultivated as wineyards. Of them, 15 are registered in the Nobile Record, while the others are used for the production of the Montepulciano Red, the Contess White, the Sansovino and the Vin Santo. Our wineyards, with autoctonous wines, are located in one of the best production areas. Our production philosophy summarizes in the positive synthesis of tradition and innovation: in fact, 50% is sold directly at the wine cellar to provate individuals, the rest is exported and traded thru the HO.RE.CA sector.
